ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. — Roosevelt's undefeated start came to an end against Michigan Tech, which defeated the Lakers 57–28 on October 3. Roosevelt entered the game 4–0 after victories over Chicago State, Quincy, Southwest Baptist, and Wisconsin–Stout.
Michigan Tech delivered the Lakers' first loss of the season, producing 57 points and finishing with a 29-point advantage. Roosevelt generated 28 points but couldn't overcome the Huskies' scoring total.
The defeat marked a difficult opening to conference competition. For the Lakers, the challenge became responding to adversity after a month of winning.
The opportunity to bounce back would come the following week against Wayne State.
