CHICAGO — After five consecutive losses, the Chicago Sky finally gave their home crowd something to celebrate.
Chicago defeated the Toronto Tempo 97–85 on Tuesday, producing one of its strongest offensive performances of the final month.
Gabriela Jaquez led the Sky with 18 points, while Isabelle Harrison scored 21 for Toronto.
The victory ended a losing streak that included consecutive blowout defeats against Washington and Atlanta.
Those games had exposed Chicago's defensive struggles, with opponents combining for 216 points.
Against Toronto, the Sky still allowed 85, but their offensive production was enough to secure a 12-point victory.
Chicago improved to 16–27.
For a team that has struggled to build consistency, the result was an important response.
It also demonstrated that the Sky's offense remains capable of producing strong performances.
Chicago reached 97 points, twelve more points than Toronto scored.
But the victory shouldn't obscure the larger challenge facing the organization.
The Sky have shown this type of offensive potential throughout the year. What remains missing is the ability to sustain it.
Tuesday's result provided a glimpse of what Chicago can look like when enough scoring contributions come together.
Washington was the opponent for the scheduled September 24 regular-season finale.
Chicago has an opportunity to finish with consecutive victories, but the broader evaluation of the team's direction will extend well beyond the final game.
